He was one of only two Tigers to earn first-team All ACC in the 60's as a senior.  He also made second-team All-ACC as a junior.  Mahaffey averaged 16.0 points and 9.7 rebounds for his Clemson career.   He ranks No. 3 in Clemson history in rebound average.  Mahaffey was also a standout in the classroom and made All-Academic ACC three years straight.  He played four seasons in the ABA, averaging 11.9 points and 8.0 rebounds for his career.  He participated in the inaugural ABA All-Star Game in the 1967-68 season while playing for the Kentucky Colonels.
